What is a reverse osmosis system?

Reverse osmosis removes minerals and contaminants from drinking water by pushing the water under pressure through a filter membrane before routing it to a tap. Aqua Systems patented PureChoice Reverse Osmosis drinking water systems use a three-step process.

Step 1

Prefiltration
This initial stage filters out larger particles such as silt, rust, and scale. This frees up the filter membrane to tackle the smaller contaminants.

Step 2

Membrane filtration
Microscopic pores in the membrane allow only pure water molecules to pass through. All other particles are flushed into the drain and exit the system.

Step 3

Final polish
Water is routed through the holding tank. When you turn on the tap, the water runs through a final carbon filter to remove any remaining tastes and odors before reaching your drinking glass.
